Matt Ferrante: Band Leader: Saxophone, Vocals, Flute & Clarinet Matt is the leader of the Modern times, which he formed in 1985. With the band, Matt has performed in concert with major national acts such as: Pat Metheny, Natalie Cole and Dionne Warwick. Other credits include being named one of the "top five horn players" for five consecutive years by the readers of IN PITTSBURGH. He is a highly sought after saxophonist/composer/arranger and has worked with the: The Four Tops, The Temptations, Billy Price, The Mills Brothers and Dave Leibman. He wrote the music and produced their release, The Persistence of Melody on Corona Music. He is a founding member of the Balcony Big Band and is a member of Opek. Matt has a Masters Degree in Music Education from Duquesne University and is head of the Performing Arts Department at The Ellis School in Shadyside.
